My knees hurt after helping the youth at church build and attempt to fly their boomerangs last night.
The one that I built on the fly last night seems to be good, but it hasn't had a very good flight test yet.
Today it's wet outside, and I could test it, but I worry that it I'd get it really wet and the plywood would come apart.
My dear wife will be out of town starting early tomorrow, so I need to get up early to get kids to school, etc.
Over the weekend, I'm setting up the satellite equipment at the chapel, but now that I think about it... Is it even operational after they rebuilt the library? This, I suppose, is the ultimate question that I have in mind.
I received this several weeks ago and recently I've decided that I want to attempt to solve it more actively
It's a pretty cool puzzle, and it's nothing like the Rubik cubes, per se'. I mean, it does have static pieces, but it's not solvable in the manner that I can use similar techniques from a cube on it.
I have several other puzzles like this that I also received recently, so I'll try to post updates on how my solving is going.
Where I come to express thoughts or rant or write a bunch of crap down just for the sake of doing it.

Uncle update - No More Chemo II
Why doesn't the freakin' page let me set the font for the title? I like to have the letter I with the larger head & feet so that it looks like an authoritative roman numeral 2.
Oh well...
My Uncle has really decided he doesn't want Chemo at all. Earlier this morning, my wife went over to visit him and he doesn't want any Chemo therapy, he even asked that we cancel the appointment with the cancer doctor.
We called the cancer center we've been using and they suggested that we keep the appointment for several reasons:
My uncle also told my wife that I shouldn't bring my flute with me when I visit him... I didn't play for him the other night, I walked out almost to the parking lot when I ran into a few of the residents & staff gathered around and I played several songs for them.
They enjoyed the playing, and I know my uncle couldn't have heard me playing or shouldn't have heard me playing, since his room is several turns and long distances away from where I was.
Well, I might just as well, at this point, wait for him to pass on, then I can go over there and volunteer my flute playing to those residents who would like to listen to me play.
Some day, I'll record my playing and post it on YouTube... I don't know when yet.
Tonight, I have the youth from church coming over to work on cutting out and shaping boomerangs. So when I'm done working, I need to get my garage/shop straightened out enough for them to work.
I think I'll try to buy another coping saw or two, just so that everyone can be working together.

We called the cancer center we've been using and they suggested that we keep the appointment for several reasons:
- Find out where his blood/cancer levels are at.
- Talk with the doctor about stopping all meds & injections.
- Discuss the next step of care. (i.e. hospice, etc.)

Up in the sky is it a bird? a plane? it's .... boomerang!
The pattern that I manually copied to a largish piece of wood failed me...
So for kicks this morning, I took the printed pattern, I don't know if it was to scale or not, cut it out with a pair of scissors and transferred it to some quarter inch paneling material.
Took me maybe ten minutes at the jigsaw to cut them out, as I traced out two on a 7"x7" board, then another ten minutes or so at the drill press with a sanding drum... Voila! Presto! I was ready to go again...
Loaded the kids up, drove to the corner park to test them out.
I threw the first one and it looked like it did 100 yard diameter pattern/ flight path and landed pretty darn close to us.
Same thing for the second one.
I told the girls they each get one after I trace out the pattern onto a template board for easier replication.
It was very cool to see them fly.
