Race day report.

Sunday, May 31st, I worked communication along with my HAM radio club for a local bicycle race.

It was a race through some pretty good mountain terrain.

Like lots of stuff I have found while being a member of this club for almost a year, the communications and organization for these events sucked.

The primary member of the club responsible for contacting people got overwhelmed with shit and went off on me a little bit.

This "ass" is what I'm going to call him only because he assumed too much about this as he said "we've gone over this multiple times over the years..."

I had to point out to him that I had been involved with the club for less than a year and after the last fucking race finished.

Well the annual ARRL field day in June is coming up pretty damn fast.

While the club doesn't participate in the event by way of competing, we are there to help respond to contacts for other HAMs who are competing.

Otherwise, the entire Saturday of field day is one long ass BBQ...

Last year, I barely had my General Class license.

This year, I am an Extra class, which means I can work any frequency/band that the FCC has allotted the Amateur radio operators.

I hope I can get my morse code skills up to snuff to work contacts using the oldest, long distance wireless communications method. (Other than yelling I suppose... if you don't go hoarse first.)
