With the New Year comes new things... again...

Ellie has always had weight problems...

When we were first married, she was very slender as far as usual frames go.

I mean, she wasn't thin, but she also wasn't a Big Bertha.

Just beautiful.

Over the years since we've been married, and even before we had children, she started getting heavier.

Now, the weight gain then wasn't bad, and I still considered her on the thin/medium size, not really close to Big Bertha.

It's been since Little Miss was born that the weight gain started getting well out of control.

After we bought our house, her weight started getting more and more out of control.

Now she's been diagnosed with pre-diabetes and needs to really start to make a much better effort to lose weight.

I joined weight watchers with her and I lost quite a bit of weight, and it helped me to keep in mind the food that I eat.

I lost and gained weight myself, but I have been pretty steady around 270 or so.

Several years ago, I was about 330, so this is a great place to be.

A few months ago, I was back up to the 290's, and I semi-consciously started eating differently.

Because of my pain medications, I know I needed to eat more fiber.

With that, I realized that I needed protein to go with it so I started eating Cottage Cheese with several canned pears or peaches.

I know that canned fruit isn't on the 100% diet fruit end of things, but who gives a shit?

Keeping your weight under control requires portion and self control, not following some fucking bunch of rules about what's perfect to eat and what's not.

Getting back to Ellie, she's tried Weight Watchers and does good there, only if she adheres to the plan... but...

She always falls back to, I want to eat that so I will.

Instead of just a bit at a time, she goes overboard.

She loves Cheeses so she'll $pend quite a bit on cheese, which is OK at times.

But she eats too much of it.

She also hates hearing from ANYONE that she's eating too much or the wrong types of foods.

Am I the pot calling the kettle black?

Sort of...

After all, I used to eat a bowl of ice cream every day for months & months.

Also, I've been known to buy and eat whole bags of M&M's, cookies, candies, etc. etc.

What's this all got to do with New things?

Well, Ellie is now working on another new type of diet.

I will I support this one too, because she needs to support...

Unlike some of the other dieting she's done in the past, she's going to try changing one type of meal at a time, instead of everything at one time.

After all my weight loss was done with my breakfast foods.

Hell, because of the breakfast changes I made, I also don't usually eat much during the day between breakfast & dinner.

Well, here we are with changes and new things for a New Year...

again...
